Bolt and Nut Induction Forging

Bolt and Nut Induction Forging

TY Induction has many years’ experiences in Bolt and Nut Induction Hot Forging

Bolt and Nut Induction Hot forging is to heat the workpiece to be processed to a certain temperature with a high-frequency or medium-frequency induction machine, put the heated workpiece on a press machine, and then stamp it through a die to obtain the required shape and size. The billet is heated in an Induction Coil or Furnace to a temperature above the recrystallization point of the metal. This extreme high temperature is necessary to avoid strain hardening of the metal during deformation. Because the metal is in a plastic state, rather complex shapes can be made and the metal remains ductile.

Fastener Forging is the process of deforming metal into a predetermined shape using certain dies and equipment - deformation is done using hot forging, cold forging or even warm forging processes. The alignment of the grain structure used by forging imparts directional properties to the part, aligning the grains and making it resistant to the high stresses the part will encounter.

Hot forging and cold forging are two different metal forming processes that provide similar results

Cold forging: At room temperature, the blank is placed between the upper and lower dies and a certain pressure is applied, so that the blank is axially compressed and radially expanded into a predetermined shape. This pressure processing method is called cold heading. The cold heading process is suitable for mass production of fasteners such as bolts, screws, nuts, rivets, etc. The disadvantage is that the upsetting force is large, and the requirements for the pretreatment of the material are high.

Since the hot forging process is carried out at high temperature, hot forging by Induction Heating / Bolt and Nut Induction Forging has the following advantages:

l  The induction heating temperature can be controlled.

l  Forgings at high temperature have good plasticity

l  Low deformation resistance and easy to form

l  Hot forging is suitable for various materials

l  Especially suitable for processing large size bolts / nuts and special-shaped parts

l  Hot forging is especially good for extra-long and extra-short bolts

l  Hot forging avoids the problems of difficult forging, easy cracking and low yield of cold heading of alloy steel and stainless steel.

l  Hot forging has good forming performance and small forging force.
